If you want to talk to the coach please do so before or after practice - please, not during. Reminder: we need to leave the pool as we found it by putting chairs away and having the kids keep the locker rooms clean. There is no lifeguard on duty - which is also why the baby pool is closed during Orca practice. Appreciate your help on this. Equipment Team colors are white on black. The local Intersport in Brunssum will put the team name on the speedo suit you purchase from them . Why are team colors important? At a swim meet, the coach can easily look around the pool or in the pool and see who is an Orca; and it good for team spirit. Swim suit, goggles, hand paddles, wide swim fins, & swim caps are needed. Swimsuit requirements for meets - The EFSL requires that for men, the swimsuit shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. Furthermore, no zippers or other fastening system is allowed. More swimsuit information is available at EFSL site swimefsl.org, Officials, 09 Swim Suit Issue reports (1 & 2 ), and/or USA swimming swimsuit decision release. Latest Update for swimsuits - September 21 letter & September 23 clarification. A list of acceptable swimsuits can be found at USA Swimming. Orca swim caps are available for purchase from the Equipment Sales Director, Deb Morello. The coach would like all the kids to get small fins. The "Zumer" type fins they sell at Decathelon Sports are the ones. They go for about 15 Euro. Tillmans Sporting Goods in Brunsumm is a proud supporter of the Orcas. If you mention that you are an Orca, then 10% of the purchase goes to the team. They really do have some good prices and quality gear. This is also where you can get the Orca put onto your swimsuit for a nominal fee. Rumpenerstraat 31 6443 CB Brunssum [T] 045 5640264 [F] 045 5640129 Back
Stroke Analysis at Eindhoven Pool Special event offered occassionally (next time to be announced) The Head Coach has set up this event for the Orcas at the Eindhoven 50 meter, Olympic style pool to have their strokes analyzed in the past. This event is outside the “Orca” organization, incurrs an additional cost per swimmer, and is first come first serve. Each swimmer will swim in a special “camera” lane and have multiple pictures taken to analyze technique. Talk to the coach if you are uncertain if this will benefit you and talk to our President with questions. Back | Coach's Tips
