** Highlighted events are what each swimmer is scheduled to swim Swimmers should arrive at all meets no later than 9:00am for warm-up before the meet. Meets start at 10:00am. The team needs your help! It also takes approximately 37 people to run an average swim meet, which means that every family must participate. Given the size of our team, that means that virtually every adult needs to be doing something. If not, either critical tasks won’t get done, or someone will be forced to shoulder a disproportionate share of the work. So please volunteer to help!!
What to Expect at a Meet EFSL competition follows USA Swimming rules with some modifications. The typical meet offers four strokes for swimmers (free, back, breast, and butterfly), the individual medley, and both free and medley relays. Swimmers are limited to three individual and two relay events per meet. However, there is no limit to the number of swimmers a team can enter in any of the events. EFSL has decided teams can add one long distance event per meet which will be run at the end of the meet. It will not count towards total team points, but will give swimmers the opportunity to practice and get times. The pool areas are not usually very large. Each participating team is given a designated area of the pool deck. Spectators (parents) are usually on the opposite side of the pool. Swimmers are not allowed in the locker rooms except while changing before or after the meet. It is very crowded and noisy in the pool area. The hosting teams do a great job of rounding up swimmers for each of the events, but parents should be prepared to help keep their swimmers on time for the events. Parents should be aware that most pools in Finally, parents should come prepared to help volunteer at the meets. Most of the meet positions require special training, but there are a few positions that parents can help with. Teams are always looking for timers! Back How Points are Scored Points are scored based on the place, but there is a limit of how many points a team may score in any given event. Sometimes swimmers don't follow the swim rules and are disqualified (DQed). If you have a concern or issue, talk to the coach, please do not talk to the stroke and turn official. The coach has 30 minutes to protest ot the referee. By the way, it's a learning experience. Back Awards Awards are given at the end of the season at a celebratory banquet.
