Who we Are
The
Geilenkirchen Orcas season 2009-10 will mark its 22nd anniversary of
competition with the European Forces Swim League (EFSL). LtCol Ted Dempsey, USAF, has founded the team in August 1987. Today,
our team roster includes an average of 60 or more swimmers who compete
in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and England.
As stated in the Constitution, the purpose of our club is to plan, organize, and provide a competitive swim team while promoting personal and team pride that models good sportsmanship within a co-operative spirit. A further purpose is to conduct recreational and social activities to enhance contact and build relationships with other military and civilian swim clubs in the surrounding area.
All children age 6-19 of Government Civilian, Contractor or Military personnel supporting the NATO mission at Geilenkirchen, JFC HQ Brunssum and Schinnen Garrison, or students at Afnorth International School or another DoD, DND or EFSL eligible international school are eligible. By EFSL rules, the Orcas may also contain a limited percentage of host country (German) children and/or Dutch children, who are not otherwise eligible. Please call or email an Executive Board member if you have questions about eligibility.
Team roster
is available for all who have paid and turned in all their forms. To access the roster you may click on the link found on the 'Team' page or via the link on the access email. You will then be prompted to sign into your google account. This account must be made with the email address which received the access invitation. The password is made by you when you create your google account with that email address! If you do not already have a google account, you will need to create one with that email address.
